Texture

Taken by Wesley Tingey

I believe this photo successfully showed texture because I can see the different levels of the wall and the colors. It also shows the shadows. I mainly choose this photo because I love how the colors complement each other. Another reason why I choose this picture is that it’s a little different from the photos I took. I wanted to add this variety to my photos.

How Photography Connects Us.

The ted talk talks about how photos show the way our minds freeze a moment. A flashbulb memory is when all elements come together to defined not just an event but your own emotional connection to it. When you take a photo you need to know how to make a visual narrative, and how to tell a story in every picture. A form of documenting is taking pictures. Sometimes you have a choice to make the photos beautiful and tell their story. Other times you have to tell the story with a sweeping photo. What I mean by that is a photo that does always show beauty.

The Ted talk touches on the topic of a park that is dedicated to keeping elephants safe. All the pictures they took added to the story. Every one of the pictures had another part to a story. Another one is the TED talk talks about overfishing. All the photo is shows beautiful but ugly to it. But most importantly it shows the truth. Photos will connect a story together, or show a part you didn’t picture in your head. It can also help us confront people about things that can be hard or stressful. For example, there’s a photo of a man who was hurt from war. He was on the helicopter ride to the hospital. Then the next photo you can see the field hospital. Next, they went back to the states to recover and recuperate. Finally, they are able to leave the medical system and regain their pre-war lives.

Photography can be used to address some of the most important moments in someone’s life; or important topics. Other times photography can be used for things that are beautiful and not too much of a story. Photography can connect us as humans to stroys and memories.

I chose these images because together these photos represent me and who I am. When I look at each photo I see parts of my life. For starters, I grew up around huge mountains and always going out camping. On top of that, I picked the “PUT TOGETHER FLOWERS” because the flowers are simple and put together; I feel like sometimes it’s best to be simple and put together. Last but not least I picked the lake house because I have a dream to own my own beautiful lake house when I grow up.
